I’ve never been a fan of making New Years goals. Every year I’ve always made the same ones: lose weight and start working out. And by the end of the year my habits haven’t changed. This coming year I decided that my goals would have nothing to do with weight loss. Here are my New Years goals/resolutions:
Put the phone down. It’s no secret that between launching my blog and growing my social media accounts that I’ve gotten attached to my phone. Like, obsessing over getting the perfect pictures, shoving my phone in my sons face in an attempt to capture the most perfect moments, and making hubs retake pictures a million times. My husband gently reminded me that it’s more important for me to enjoy the moment rather than capture it. So, I try to keep my social media browsing/posting to after Peter has gone to bed.
Cut the sugar. If you know me, you know my sweet tooth is out of control. Combine that with a family history of diabetes and high cholesterol and you have a problem. I don’t want to be bogged down with health problems, especially with my son to think about. I desire to be better for him. I’ll have another post coming soon on what that will look like for me!
Visit more new places. Now that Peter is one we feel a lot more comfortable driving longer distances. I have a couple of places I’ve been wanting to go, but Peter was just too little. This is the year we finally go!
Spend more time playing. Peter is at such a fun age where he is learning how to play! Sometimes it’s so hard to just sit down and play with him with our busy schedules, but I’m going to make it a priority. His favorite thing to play with are balls and they make such an easy and fun game. Funnily enough, it’s almost like playing fetch! His giggle and joyful sounds make it so much fun.
Learn new recipes. I got an Instant Pot for Christmas and I’m so excited to learn how to cook with it! My hope is that it will make week night dinners a lot easier. I tried making hard boiled eggs earlier today and it was a total fail- so I’ve got a lot to learn!
Read more books. Between working and being a full time mommy I have almost no time for myself. This year I’m making it a priority to read more books. I read so much when I was younger- I used to get in trouble at school for reading a book under my desk instead of listening. I was obviously such a trouble maker!
I would love to hear your New Years goals! Share them with me in the comments! And if you liked this post, don’t forget to share it on social media!
